Nature Immersion Walk

Saturday June 21st from 9am-11:30am

Research shows that when we immerse ourselves in nature, our mood improves, our stress and anxiety decrease, the area of the brain associated with depression becomes less active, and we become more attentive and creative. In short, we feel better.

Join us this first Saturday of summer to awaken your senses and connect with nature during this mindful walk with Amy Bernstein. On this walk, she will guide us through gentle invitations to open our senses, cultivate presence, and invite healing and meaningful interactions between ourselves and the natural world.

While Amy Bernstein is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of NY, she will not be providing psychotherapy services or mental health treatment during this walk. This walk is designed to be a source of self care and reciprocal connection with nature. This is not a substitute for clinical mental health treatment or psychotherapy.

Participants should bring:

- Comfortable clothing with an outer layer to keep you warm (we will be sitting or moving slowly) and protected from the sun. Rain gear serves this purpose and protects us against drizzles. Sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

- A camping chair if you are not comfortable sitting on the ground for 20 minutes at a time.

- Tick repellant, sunscreen, a sun hat

- Water bottle with drinking water

What to expect:

The walk will last 2 hours. We will begin with some information about nature immersion, its origins and health benefits, as well as an overview of the walk. This will be followed by a sequence of invitations that will invite you into your senses, and to connect with your surroundings. After each invitation, we will have a sharing circle. The walk will conclude with coming together in a circle and sharing a snack.
