EXPAND YOUR VIEW

Through a Journey in the Treetops

Imagine strolling 70 feet above the forest floor, where sunlight filters through leaves and birds are nestled in the branches right next to you. The Tanglewood Treetop Walkway will soon offer this unique opportunity to explore nature from a new perspective.

Located in Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum’s big backyard, this immersive pathway will feature safe, ADA-accessible wooden trails that gently rise from the forest floor into the upper reaches of the trees. As you ascend with the path, you’ll encounter observation decks of various sizes and heights, perfect for pausing to take in the breathtaking views. At its pinnacle, a multi-level platform will soar above the canopy, offering a truly panoramic experience opening up both the surrounding mountains and meadows as well as the forest below.

We began the Capital Campaign in July of this year with the goal of raising an additional $1,000,000.

We have signed all of our local, state and federal grant contracts. LaBella has been working our parking lot and pathway drawings and our permitting.

We have hired Fagan Engineering to be our Project Managers. The engineering plans are being reviewed by the grant contractors.

Once we get the okay from all the parties that need to review the documents, we will be able to go out to bid.

The bid process will last a total of 6 weeks. After that we will know the new estimate of how much the Walkway will cost and the timeline for the build.

Once built, the Tanglewood Treetop Walkway will be a destination for locals and visitors alike, drawing nature enthusiasts and adventurers to Chemung County.

Here’s how you can help make it happen…

If you make a tax-deductible donation to help with the construction and preparation of the Tanglewood Treetop Walkway project, you will make a real, enduring gift for nature and for all of us who are fascinated, relaxed, and re-energized by it!

We’re raising an additional $1,000,000 to finalize the new Treetop Walkway at Tanglewood!

Thanks to our amazing community we have raised:

$95,000

Follow our progress with the growing tree diagram — as donations come in, the tree fills up. When it’s full, we’re ready to build!
