Our Fish

 

Blue gill

·        Bluegill feed on minute plant and animal organisms, insects, insect larvae, and small fish

·        A deep slab-sided fish with a small mouth and a long pectoral fin. Colors vary, but the ear flap is always black and bluegills often have a black blotch near the back of the soft dorsal fin.   

  

Brown Bullhead

·        olive to brown with dark mottling on sides, fading to white or cream underneath; fleshy barbells dusty to black; 22-23 rays in anal fin; caudal fin slightly notched.

·        Male fish fan out a saucer-shaped nest in the mud or nests in natural cavities where the female deposits eggs.

  

Blind fish

·        The main feature of the Blind fish is an absence of eyes.

·        They are born with eyes, but the sight deteriorates quickly and the eyes become distorted and covered over within a few weeks.
