Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Tanglewood?
Both of our properties are located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. We are 10 minutes from downtown Elmira, 20 minutes from downtown Corning, and we're easily accessible from all over the Twin Tiers area. Driving directions are located here

Can I bring my dog to hike with me?
Yes, you and your leashed canine companion are both welcome at our Personius Woods site! We hope you enjoy the miles of trails along streams, hills, forests, and sunny fields together. However, our Gleason Meadows/Frenchman's Bluff property (where our Nature Center is located) does not allow dogs, so that we can preserve habitat for ground-nesting birds even more effectively. Please click here for maps of both properties.

Do you charge admission?
Our trails and Nature Center and Museum are free to all, members and nonmembers alike.

Do you offer any free programs?
We are delighted to offer several free family programs a month! Our Winter Wiggles program, a seasonal Pre-K Wednesday morning series, is free. So are many of our Saturday Fun with Nature programs. Check our Events calendar to see what's coming up!

Can I hold an event at Tanglewood, like a birthday party or family reunion? How about renting the facilities for a team-building program, or a corporate retreat?
You certainly can. Some of the basic information is located here, but please contact our office manager, Deanna, for more details and any questions you may have.

I found a baby animal, an injured animal, or a wild animal that I don't really want by my house. Can you take care of it for me?
Tanglewood cannot, under any circumstances, accept an injured or orphaned animal. We do not have any rehabilitators on staff. But we can point you to several amazing rehabbers in our area!
