Each program is based around a central theme with the use of scientific
principles, hands-on exploration whenever possible and use of live
animals!
Guaranteed to delight both
students and adults alike, these programs can be integrated into classroom
curriculum or act alone as a "special."
Some programs have been designed to complement seasonal phenomena such
as fall foliage, winter and snow and spring babies.
Program Fees:
$65.00/program for up to 20 kids, $3.00 each additional child- IN
CLASSROOM (In-class programs usually last one hour).
$55.00/program for up to 20 kids, $3.00 each additional- AT TANGLEWOOD
(Programs with a walk and museum tour last approximately one and a half
hours).
Programs can enhance your curriculum and we work to fulfill NYS
Learning Standards. Any program can be adapted to fit your needs. Just

Our Programs Include:
Pond Scoops
What child doesn't like the water and wonder what is in it? Each child
will explore the teaching pond at Gleason Meadows to see how animals
survive in a wet world. Enrichment activities will be provided and the
wonders of the water worlds of Chemung County will delight all.
Plants, Trees, You and Me
Children will learn about the importance of plants in our natural world.
Basic parts of a plant will be learned through a fun plant craft. We
may even just sample some of the yummy parts of plants!
Animals that
Hatch
Students will use the discovery method to recognize and appreciate the
life histories and ecology of animals that hatch. They will observe and
manipulate different types of eggs to determine similarities and
differences; and how egg laying animals overcome ecological barriers to
be successful.
Incredible Insects and Spiders
An interactive program using live animal models to introduce students to
the diversity of the largest phyla of animals - The Arthropods. Taxonomy
of classification of these animals will emphasize their importance in
the food webs and ecosystems they inhabit. In appropriate weather,
organisms will be collected and identified.
Amphibian and Reptile Antics
Students will be shown the similarities and differences between some
common reptiles and amphibians using live specimens. Using the discovery
method, the students will determine how these animals use their unique
characteristics to survive in the environment.
Animal Coverings
Learn what animals are covered with- with fur, feathers,
scales, skin- by feeling live animals and other touchables. We will
also learn why animal coverings are important and explore some of the
more “unique” coverings in the animal world.
Animal Movement
Animals have many ways to get from place to place. Flying,
walking, hopping, climbing, slithering…! We will look at animal
locomotion and play some fun movement games. This class is great for the
fall/summer so it can be held it outdoors in the schoolyard.

Feather, Colors in Nature, Endangered Species, Fossil and Dino Fun and
Track and Skull.
